[英文釋義] A codon that has been converted to the same sequence as a stop codon (CODON,TERMINATOR) by a nonsense mutation. It is different from a stop codon in that it occurs abnormally and causes premature termination of protein translation resulting in the production of truncated proteins which may be non-functional.
